Have you noticed how popular ranger games have become lately? These are the ones where you have to constantly run and collect all sorts of bonuses that come across the way. In fact, the name of the genre comes from the English word Run, which in our language means “run. I used to be very skeptical about these games and thought they have no future. I was wrong – one of the most popular raconer games called Subway Surfers is breaking all records for the number of downloads – more than 300 million from the App Store and Google Play! This news surprised me, and yesterday I decided to try the game by downloading it to my smartphone.
It starts out interesting enough. There is a certain graffiti artist, whose main activity in life is drawing. It is clear that he likes to draw exclusively on the walls of houses, garages and other real estate. Despite the responsibility, our hero is not afraid of anyone or anything. This time, fate has brought him into the train depot, where the boy decided to decorate a train carriage. Finishing his dirty work, behind his back he notices a guard and… He jumps out of his seat and starts running. From this point on, the main character will do nothing but run. However, it’s not that simple. First, you need to avoid collisions with various objects that get in the way, including the trains that may be passing by. And secondly, you need to collect coins, and there will be more than enough of them on your way. In addition, we must try to catch all the bonuses, because they can greatly facilitate the passage of the game.
In principle, I liked the game. First and foremost I want to say thank you for the beautiful graphics – it is bright and colorful. The gameplay is very simple: to move the player to the right or left, you must swipe your finger on the screen in the right direction. The same applies when you have to jump or duck. The soundtrack is okay, but if you don’t like it, you can turn it off at any time.
The passage itself is not that interesting: you have to constantly run from the guard, and collect coins, jumping in different directions and dodging trains and other obstacles. The player’s speed gradually increases, so it becomes harder to dodge. Too monotonous, so more than 20 minutes, I personally could not stand it.
In order to make the game more diverse, the developer company KILOO prepared bonuses. For example, you have a snowboard, that allows you to significantly speed up (it is given only at the beginning of the game, then you have to pay for it) or a miracle-box, where you can find everything from extra coins to the same snowboard. Particular attention should be paid to the store: here you can buy additional clothing for your character or buy a new one. Clothes are relatively inexpensive and cost from 300 coins.
